Garlands

"With every flower that we string on the mala our meditation should be an offering of our love, our devotion to Krishna.  Actually if you make even a single garland with that attitude your life will be perfect. " --Radhanath Swami ✿

Winter

Garlands are made daily using store-bought flowers.

Summer

Garlands are made daily using garden flowers. Store-bought flowers will only be used if garden flowers are not sufficient, and for festivals.

Large Garlands

For Sri Sri Gaura Nitai

Flowers

Basic flowers are supplied. Garland makers are welcome to purchase additional filler flowers. Do not waste the flowers supplied. If you have too few or too many flowers inform the Flower Manager.

Sizing

Garland Length: 18 inches from top to bottom

Garland Locket: 3 inches max

Optional Dangles: ~2 inches

Ribbon Length: 8-10 inches

Use size chart on wall to test garlands

Garland Ends

It is ideal if the flowers at the end of the garlands gradually get smaller. This is more comfortable around the necks of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai.

Always attach ribbon to the end of the garlands and cut off any extra string. Here is a tutorial to illustrate how to attach ribbons to the end of the garlands. Ribbon supplied is only to be used for garland ends. Do not make ribbons longer than 10 inches in order to use Krishna's resources efficiently.

Extras

Ribbon and beads within the garland will be reserved for festivals.

Placement & Timing

Place completed garlands in the "Garlands for Gaura Nitai" box in the Pujari fridge. This should be done by 630 AM the morning they will be offered. It is recommended to make garlands within 24 hours before they are to be offered for optimum freshness.

Small Garlands

For Acaryas

Appearance / Disappearance Days

If it is the Appearance or Disappearance day for an Acarya whose image is on the Altar, a small garland should be made for them. The assigned garland maker is responsible for making or having this garland made. The dates for these events will be shown on the calendar/chart.

Flowers

Extra flowers will not be provided for this garland, however the flower purchaser will attempt to purchase some smaller flowers. Plan Sri Sri Gaura Nitai's garlands so there are sufficient flowers to use in the small garland. Alternately, the garland maker is welcome to get flowers for this small garland.

Sizing

Garland Length: 9 inches per side

Garland Locket: 1 inch max

String on End: 8 inches max

Use size chart on wall to test garlands

Garland Ends

No need to attach ribbon to small garlands, but ensure that the flowers at the end do not fall off.

Extras

Ribbon and beads within the garland can be used sparingly, and need to be supplied by the garland maker.

Placement & Timing

Place completed garlands in the "Garlands for Gaura Nitai" box in the Pujari fridge. Put a POST-IT note with the garland explaining who it is for so the pujari knows. This should be done by 630 AM the morning they will be offered. It is recommended to make garlands within 24 hours before they are to be offered for optimum freshness.
